Wedding at Summerhill Winery Kelowna

I spent July long weekend in kelowna this year. We had a wedding to go to on the Sunday and it was fantastic. I have been to quite a few weddings at all sorts of places but this one had the best food by far. CHeck out Summerhill

Been Super Busy

Been crazy busy lately with stags, birthdays, and getting out enjoying the summer. I have had some great meals lately. I finally tried Famosa and I think I will write a little review of my experience this weekend.

Alley Kat Cask Night at Sugar Bowl

  This past week we ventured down to Sugar Bowl right after work to grab a table at the first anniversary of Alley Kat's cask night. It was packed with a queue about 8 deep when we got there. We were lucky enough to have a few tables clear out and we got a table right next to the kegs.

  This was our first cask night and it was lots of fun. They have a huge following of beer lovers, and maybe few scenester's. When they announced the opening of the first cask the restaurant erupted in cheer. The poor guy working the keg couldn't keep up with the servers consistently delivering every beer to eagerly awaiting customers. I am not a beer connoisseur but the Full Moon pale Ale with extra hops was perfect for a hot day. The second beer was a high alcohol brew, brewed in a scotch or whiskey cask ( I can't recall exactly). One was enough for my inexperienced pallet.

  We didn't eat before we arrived so we ordered some hummus to make sure our beers didn't hit us too hard. The hummous was perfect served with some grilled Greek pita's. It was fresh lots of garlic exactly the way I like it. It came out quick which is what I expect when your paying for something that quite simply just gets put on a plate and sent out. As we waited for some friends to arrive I convince myself to try what I believe to be the most creative dish on their menu. Chicken and waffles, this dish always caught my eye but this night I devoted my full attention to it as I enjoyed every bite. The waffles were unlike anything I ever had. A sugary waffle quite possibly made with a modified cake batter. Served on top was three generous pieces of maple glazed chicken. Accompanying the dish was a small greens that was nice but I didn't feel the dish needed it. There was also some maple butter that I made sure to have with every bite. This dish was actually quite simple when you broke it down, but i felt that it was executed perfectly.

We had a great time at Sugarbowl the reasonably priced beers, fun simple menu, and attentive service allowed us to really enjoy this evening. Normally I frequent Sugarbowl for their famous Cinnamon buns and enjoy a coffee on the patio, but I will definitely stop by at a few more cask nights.

Epic Meal Time has a Candy BBQ this week. It is actually one of my favourite ones yet because a lot of this stuff looks really good. I love the burger.
